As it prepares to launch commercially in Europe, Uptake Medical Corp., a developer of medical technologies for interventional emphysema therapy, has raised $35.1 million of a funding round that will likely grow as large as $41.6 million, a person connected to the company said.

Acceleron Secures $30M Private Financing
Acceleron Pharma, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing protein therapeutics for cancer and orphan diseases, today announced it raised a $30M private financing. Celgene, one of Acceleron’s strategic partners, and all other existing investors participated in this financing. The proceeds will be used to expand and advance Acceleron’s clinical stage pipeline and to continue to support its highly productive research engine.

Medrobotics Closes $11.7 Million In “Series C” Funding
Boston-based, robotic snake technology developer, Medrobotics Corporation, announced today that it has closed “Series C” funding in the amount of $11.7 Million. The investment came from current shareholders, a number of new angel investors and from The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse. In total, Medrobotics Corporation has raised $28.3 million in preferred equity financing since its academic founders spun it out from Carnegie Mellon University.

Daktari Diagnostics Announces $10 Million in Financing
Daktari Diagnostics Inc., a developer of point-of-care diagnostic systems for global health applications, announces that it has secured $10 million in a staged financing round from a syndicate of private and venture investors. Merck Global Health Innovation Fund led the round, joined by the company’s current investor group, led by Norwich Ventures and the Partners Innovation Fund.
