CytoPherx Raises $34 Million to Move Into U.S. Clinical Trials
CytoPherx (Fka Nephrion), today announced it has completed a $34 million round of funding. A large syndicate of investors co-led by Early Stage Partners, ONSET Ventures and Capital Midwest Fund, participated in the round. The funds will be used to complete U.S. clinical trials and gain FDA approval to commercialize the CytoPherx anti-inflammatory therapy for acute kidney injury. n addition to Early Stage Partners, ONSET Ventures and Capital Midwest Fund, joining the financing are new investors Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Emergent Medical Partners, Charter Oak Equity, Aphelion Capital, and existing investors Lurie Investments, Dow/Union Carbide Employee Pension Plans, Apjohn Ventures and North Coast Technology Investors.

Elevation Pharmaceuticals Completes $30 Million Series B Financing to Advance Aerosol COPD Therapy
Elevation Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today the closing of a $30 million Series B financing, led by new investor Novo Ventures, to fund development of Elevation’s new aerosol therapy for patients living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). All previous investors participated in the round, including Canaan Partners, TPG Biotech, Care Capital and Mesa Verde Venture Partners. In conjunction with this financing, Elevation has added Heath Lukatch , Ph.D., a Partner in Novo Ventures, Novo A/S, to its board of directors.

Gene Security Network Announces Completion of $20 Million Financing Round, Change of Company Name to Natera
Gene Security Network Inc. (GSN) today announced the completion of a $20 million financing round, as well as the change of the company’s name to Natera, Inc. The financing round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, which is joined in the current round by Claremont Creek Ventures and Sequoia Capital.

Probiodrug AG Raises Additional €15 Million to Advance its Clinical Program
Probiodrug AG today announced it has secured €15 million additional financing for the ongoing development of its glutaminyl cyclase (QC) inhibitor program. The lead compound, PQ912, its first QC inhibitor, is in clinical development for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
